Ideal Weight Calculator – Find Your Healthy Weight

Your ideal weight isn't a single number — it's a range. This calculator uses your height and gender to determine the healthy weight window that minimises your risk of weight-related health conditions.

How to Calculate Your Ideal Weight

Ideal weight is derived from BMI. A "healthy" BMI falls between 18.5 and 24.9. By working backwards from these thresholds, we can calculate the weight range that puts any given height in the healthy zone.

Ideal Weight Range = BMI (18.5 to 24.9) × height (m)²

For example, someone 170 cm tall has a healthy weight range of approximately 53.5 kg to 71.9 kg.

BMI and Weight Relationship

The relationship between height and healthy weight is not linear — as height increases, the healthy weight range grows more quickly (because it scales with height squared). This is why the same absolute weight can be healthy for a tall person but overweight for a shorter individual.

Tips to Reach Your Ideal Weight

1
Set a realistic timeline

Safe weight loss is 0.5–1 kg per week. Losing too fast can cause muscle loss and nutrient deficiencies.

2
Create a modest calorie deficit

Reduce daily intake by 300–500 calories through diet changes rather than extreme restriction. Use our Calorie Calculator to find your target.

3
Combine cardio and strength training

Cardio burns calories; strength training preserves and builds muscle, which raises your resting metabolism.

4
Track progress, not perfection

Weigh yourself weekly under consistent conditions. Use BMI alongside waist measurements for a fuller picture.
